It was a choice between Leiv-Erik Ødegaard (20) and Kine Renate Olsen (23). Both of them were running for leader before last night’s election, and since no one else joined them in the last minute, it was a battle between the to ISFiT gang members.

175 of the voters voted for Ødegaard, Kine Renate Olsen got 112 votes, while 54 of the votes were blank. With that, the former county leader of Unge Høyre (the Conservative Party of Norway’s youth organization) elected as Samfundet’s new leader.

An overwhelmed Ødegaard struggled to hold back his emotions during his acceptance speech.

– I think I am going to cry, he said, and finished with a big thank you to Storsalen.

The road ahead for the new leader is a three-month period with experience transmission from the sitting board until the inauguration on May 17. In addition to that, Ødegaard stated during the questioning of the candidates that he wished to spend one day with each gang at Samfundet to get to know them better – if they would have him.
